The First Ten Years*

Open project IM

Students will have to contribute with their works to the exhibition "The
first ten years", reflecting the first ten years of World Wide Web.

Topics will be: How did aesthetics and style of the medium
develop? What were the successes and failures? How did the web
change offline design and culture? And what has already
disappeared? What is forgotten and what is overhyped?
How much is left of the first ten years, in archives or still
in operation?

The exhibition will consist of online or offline objects
(can be an installation, sculpture, web page, program, novel).
Not only obvious but also hidden or unobtrusive developments
can be the focus of works.

Students shall express in an artistic way how they see the
medium and its technological and philosophical aspects.

The field of the exhibition itself also changed during the first
ten years. Many attempts were made to present online objects,
online and offline. We will examine the history of this process
and search for an efficient way to deal with online art offline.
