Images are to be considered in all their aesthetic, media, technical, political and economic dimensions.

We are looking for a designer with a nationally and internationally recognised practice as well as university teaching experience and a special ability to work collaboratively and across departments. Research and teaching at the Merz Akademie should take place in constant correspondence with the contemporary change of the photographic image, the implications of the digital media revolution and the current aesthetic and political challenges of imaging media. We expect aesthetic experimentation, media reflexivity and a pronounced affinity to cultural and socio-critical theory formation.

The tasks also include participation in research projects, external cooperations and in the administration of the university. Good German and English language skills are desired. The position is initially limited to two years; the goal is a permanent employment after a positive evaluation. Remuneration will be according to the TVL W2 tariff. Formal requirements of employment according to § 47 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg apply.

The position starts in the Sommersemester 2021. We are looking forward to receiving your application with curriculum vitae, samples of work and other relevant documents until October 2nd, 2020. In case of an interview at the university, we expect the presentation of a teaching and research concept and the naming of work related references. Digital dossiers are welcome.
