Merz Akademie at the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart and FMX 2022

05.04.2022

After two long years, the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (May 3-8, 2022) and the FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media (May 3-5, 2022) will finally be back on site.

The GameZone presents innovative and high-quality computer games and interactive projects at the intersection of games and animation that invite visitors to play. In 2022, GameZone will take place both onsite at Jugendhaus Mitte and with different formats in the free online area at OnlineFestival.ITFS.de and in the ITFS VR Hub.

At the GameZone Talents, the Merz Akademie will present onsite and online results from the New Media semester project Re-Shaping Nature. In this project, a cooperation project of Merz Akademie with the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior and The Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour in Konstanz, students were working on artistic approaches to present scientific data. They are using datasets from behaviour experiments and are giving the data an artistic twist. They are visualizing, for example, a stork’s journey, the mating behaviour of fiddler crabs or the echolocation of bats.

Children and young people between the ages of 6 and 14 can experience the gaming world together with family and friends in the GameZone Kids and discover games suitable for children. MoMO offers various workshops together with the ComputerSpielSchule. On Thursday, May 5, 2022, 3 pm, MoMO will broadcast a special program on “Animation, Games and ITFS” during its regular program on Free Radio for Stuttgart.
