Workshop Week Summer Semester 2026

Film, video art, performance, stage design, illustration, and magazine production shaped the workshop week of the summer semester 2026. In place of the regular teaching programme, students participated in interdisciplinary projects and workshops led by international guest lecturers. Supported through the Erasmus+ Teacher Mobility Programme, experts from across Europe shared their knowledge and experience.

In the Variable Fonts workshop, graphic designer Edgar Walthert guided students in developing modular systems based on grids, stamp modules, and vector compatibility, forming the basis for a functional typeface design

In the workshop Water – Mirror of Our World, curator Ute Noll invited students to investigate water as a subject through the medium of magazine production. Using originals, reproductions, and found newspaper imagery, participants experimented with collage, sequencing, and bookmaking techniques. Supported by the Merz Akademie’s printmaking, screen-printing, and bookbinding workshops, they produced a remarkable variety of magazines, which were later exhibited at UNO ART SPACE.
