The Malboro Man was yesterday. Advertising today looks different and is much more influential: Influencers shape platforms like Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. They steer and manipulate millions of followers in their purchasing decisions. They advertise not only products, but also a neoliberal lifestyle and dubious body images. Ole Nymoen and Wolfgang M. Schmitt, authors of Influencers. The Ideology of Advertising Bodies, provide insights into the absurd social media world in their Influencer Show.

The lecture will take place in the tell.net series at the Stuttgart Public Library in cooperation with the Merz Akademie.

Admission: 4 euros, reduced 2.50 euros. Admission is free for students of the Merz Akademie.
