Merz Bildungswerk Scholarship for Alejandro Bellegarrigue

05.10.2023

Alejandro Bellegarrigue, who will start his studies at Merz Akademie in the winter semester 2023/24, will receive a Merz Bildungswerk scholarship. Since 2018, the Merz Bildungswerk Stidendium has been awarded to individuals with exceptional potential or in special personal circumstances to enable them to study at Merz Akademie.

Alejandro Bellegarrigue wants to become a filmmaker and is looking forward to his studies in film and video at Merz Akademie:

“From a young age, I was fascinated by the power of visual media. The Merz Academy is the ideal institution to nurture my passion and develop my talent.”

Alejandro acquired basic skills in camera work, photography and video editing in workshops and while working on projects at his German school in San Salvador. The Merz Bildungswerk scholarship not only supports Alejandro financially, as he points out, but:

“The scholarship gives me the freedom to fully focus on my studies and participate in many extracurricular activities and internships to gain many more experiences.”

Markus Merz, Managing Partner of Merz Bildungswerk and Barbara M. Eggert, rector of Merz Akademie congratulate the scholarship holder at a personal meeting. Markus Merz emphasizes:

“The scholarship was created to enable particularly gifted individuals who have an exceptional biography or are in circumstances worthy of consideration to study at the Merz Akademie. It is intended for those who, due to their background or other criteria, are excluded from other support opportunities and for whom, without this support, studying would not be financially feasible. Alejandro convinced the selection committee in his application.”
