A seating system for communication, participation, and shared experience.
Presence is a spatial installation based on the idea of the horizontal chess game and two opposing stools. Originating from my personal interest in chess, the work translates a familiar game structure into a physical setting for dialogue and encounter.
Inspired by artists such as Siah Armajani and informed by my experience of migration from Iran, the project reflects on themes of democracy, participation, and the social role of objects beyond function or aesthetics. The chessboard becomes a shared ground where position, negotiation, and exchange are embodied rather than merely played.
