The multimedia exhibition Pain x Change confronts visitors with (bodily) pain and the attempt to communicate it. Since pain is inherently invisible and cannot be proven objectively, it often feels impossible to describe it in a way that is believable to others. Four stations show my attempts at different forms of pain expression with the objective to externalize it and shape it into a tangible form. For that I utilized practices common in BDSM and took inspiration from Marina Abramović’s performance art.
