Framework brings together theory and hands-on practice to explore the ‘frame’ as a medium itself – where display and context actively construct meaning, both literally and metaphorically.
More than a lecture series, Framework is an ongoing exploration of how art is seen. An open conversation on what surrounds a work and how meaning gets made around it.
June 2 – Talk
Join us for a conversation with Werner Murrer, frame expert, lecturer and curator based in Munich – whose research, exhibitions and guided tours explore the artist’s frame as a medium in its own right – and Kathrin Milic-Grunwald, scenographer and concept designer at Atelier Brückner, who builds the spatial narratives that surround art at an architectural scale.
June 3 – Workshop
A hands-on session led by Tanin S. Mousavi – get your hands on materials and make a frame yourself. Places are limited, so reach out to us in advance, to register send an email to florentine.fritz@merz-akademie.de
